ANTIQUE NEO-GOTHIC HOURGLASS

Hourglass in walnut frame with four carved pillars consisting of 6 sides (hexagonal) and two beautifully decorated bottoms.
The neo-Gothic style originated in England, a movement that stems from the medieval Gothic style.
Interior artists and furniture makers were mainly inspired by the many details, the pointed arch windows, crenellated towers,
capitals and fan vaults.
In this highly detailed hourglass we see the pointed arch windows with quatrefoil decorations on the pillars.
Both bottoms are decorated with a carved Gothic rose window of acanthus leaves in the middle, four concentric rings
and various decorations.
A true work of art.
19½ cm high.
Clear glass with fine white silica sand.
Diameter Ø 11 cm
