BOXED 8 X 60 - CARL ZEISS DECK MOUNTED BINOCULARS
BOXED 8 X 60 - CARL ZEISS DECK MOUNTED BINOCULARS
These binoculars were specially designed for the navy, they were extremely good night vision binoculars for locating planes and ships.
This type of binoculars was also used for observation on deck, the rubber headrest increased comfort during long observation.
The prisms are huge in relation to the tubes and the rest of the binoculars.
The binoculars therefore give a nice panoramic detailed widescreen.
The letter "T" on the left, "Transparenzbelag", indicates that the lenses are coated with an anti-reflective coating
that improves the light transmission in the lenses by 80%.
This system was developed and patented on November 1, 1935 by Aleksander Smakula.
These binoculars are considered by many collectors as the best military binoculars ever made.
The weather caps with flaps kept the lenses dry during bad weather.
They could also be mounted above a torpedo aiming device.
The adapter could be connected to the right tube to illuminate the reticle.
The rubbers eye shields are original and signed by Zeiss with CZ.
Very nice and complete set (with matching numbers)in the original box with all accessories.
Only 100 of these Carl Zeiss Jena binoculars were produced in 1939, 4 are known worldwide!!!
You will only find this once, certainly in this complete boxed version!!!
