FIRST MODEL 8 X 60 - CARL ZEISS DECK MOUNTED BINOCULARS
FIRST MODEL 8 X 60 - CARL ZEISS DECK MOUNTED BINOCULARS
This early model is certainly among the most interesting binoculars produced for the Kriegsmarine.
Its rarity makes it one of the most coveted and requested pieces by collectors of optics used throughout the Second World War.
A large and impressive pair of binoculars from the Kriegsmarine with serial number: 1610370.
This is an early first model!
This model has larger eyepieces than the later models, from this type are only157 pieces produced.
The magnification is 8x, the eyepieces can be focused separately.
These night binoculars were specially designed for the navy and aviation.
You could use the binoculars hand-held, or on a tripod as part of the sound locator detection system.
This system could locate incoming air traffic at an altitude of 25 km.
The prisms are huge in relation to the tubes and the rest of the binoculars.
The binoculars therefore give an impressive field of View and panoramic widescreen.
The letter "T" on the left, "Transparenzbelag", indicates that the lenses are coated with an anti-reflective coating
that improves the light transmission in the lenses by 80%.
*Only 157 of these Carl Zeiss Jena binoculars were produced in the interwar period, only 4 are known worldwide, this is one of the 4.
