ROSS 10 X 70 "CAPTAINS SIGHT" DECK MOUNTED & HAND HELD

This type was made at Ross London in 1938 it’s probably the largest hand held military binoculars ever made.
This is the second rare Captain's Binoculars from Ross I have found.
This one is still complete with its characteristic chest, partly covered with green velvet and made of mahogany.
The binoculars have been nicely preserved with the original yellow Admiralty arrows on both tubes.
They were only given to larger naval ships such as Cruisers and Battleships, the circulation was very
limited, only a few hundred were made.
The optical performance is excellent, it is a Porro II construction with coated lenses and extendable sun shields.

The binoculars have recently been fully serviced and cleaned.
The optical quality is excellent, the view is exceptionally bright with a wide panoramic view.
A beautiful and rare historical binoculars in original finish with provenance.
Origin:
The binoculars come from the Australian cruiser HMAS Australia.
Included original box & soft rubber brow pad
