Kriegsmarine heavy brass U-boat binoculars, marked: "blc" (Carl Zeiss, Jena), model: UDF 7x50,
these are waterproof up to 30 atm, and pressurized.
For use on a fixed mounting in the conning tower of U-Boats, these would stay in place during diving.
Rubber flip up eyecups present, and aiming sights on top, very rare!!
This is one of the series of 500 that were made!
Cleaned and served, clear optics ( image 11) good condition blue coating no chips or damage( with service receipt).
Completely original with nice patina.
These binoculars have a fixed focus.
Executed with a knob on the right eyepiece for: Hell & Dunkel (light and dark).
At night the knob would be put in the Dunkel position, the vertical line graticule in the right eyepiece
would then be illuminated through the use of luminous paint.
At the back there is a bending bar for adjusting the eye position.
It has retractable rubber eye caps with side shield against light shining in from the sides,
and it is equipped with little holes against condensation.
